Callihan joined the Department of Architecture and Design at Los Angeles Harbor College in 2009. He is a full-time instructor of technical courses in Revit/BIM and AutoCAD, design studios, architectural history, and a variety of other courses in the department.
Callihan's 20+ years of professional experience includes GDS Architects, AJLA and DMJM (AECOM), which focused on a variety of international projects of various types. He has served as a member of the design team for numerous winning design competitions for transportation and government projects. As a cofounder of GDS Architects, Inc., Callihan is involved with all phases of design of projects. He has worked on a wide variety of commercial, mixed-use, civic, interiors, housing, transportation, and masterplan projects. Callihan continues to be involved with projects at GDS while teaching at LAHC. Callihan served as project designer for many international large scale projects, including AID Sea Colony, Tower Infinity, and Posco # Centum Star and Central Star. His work has been featured in various publications, articles, and exhibitions in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
